Course Overview

This qualification updates your knowledge and practical ability as a professional Close Protection Operative (CPO). It focuses on modern security practices, threat response, and legal responsibilities within the private security sector.

It’s designed for anyone holding an existing SIA Close Protection licence issued before 1 October 2022 who now needs to renew.

21 Aytoun Place, London, SW9 0TE

Nearest Station: Stockwell Underground (Northern & Victoria Lines – 5 mins walk)
Buses: 88, 155, 333, 345 stop nearby on Clapham Road
Parking: £10 per day – permits available from SW9 Housing Office (please arrange in advance)

Training runs from 09:00 – 17:00 daily.

Course Units

You’ll complete three mandatory units designed by Highfield Qualifications to meet current SIA licensing criteria:

  1. Unit 1 – Principles of Working as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry (Refresher)

    • Roles and responsibilities

    • Conflict management and de-escalation

    • Incident reporting and record-keeping

    • Counter-terror threat awareness

  2. Unit 2 – Application of Physical Intervention Skills in the Private Security Industry (Refresher)

    • Safe and lawful use of force

    • Physical intervention techniques

    • Teamwork during incidents

    • Reducing risks of harm and complaints

  3. Unit 3 – Application of Physical Intervention Skills for Close Protection Operatives in the Private Security Industry (Refresher)

    • Protective positioning and escorting

    • Evacuation and extraction drills

    • Situational control under pressure

    • Team coordination and communication
