First Aid at Work Course in London

The Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF), often called FAW, is the full workplace first aid qualification. Over three days you learn to assess an incident, recognise the signs and symptoms of injury and illness, and give first aid for a wide range of situations, from an unresponsive casualty to anaphylaxis. It is an Ofqual regulated qualification from Qualsafe, delivered by Three Sixty Security, a Qualsafe registered centre and SIA approved training provider in London.

Who is this course for?

• Staff who need to become first-aiders in the workplace
• Organisations whose first-aid needs assessment says staff must be trained to this level
• Learners applying for our SIA Close Protection course, which needs a valid Level 3 first aid qualification of at least three days
• Security officers, door supervisors and event staff who want a higher level of first aid than the one-day emergency course

Course length

The course runs over three days. You should expect 22 hours of learning, with a minimum contact time of 18 hours.

What you will learn

Unit 1: Emergency First Aid in the Workplace

1. Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
2. Be able to assess an emergency situation safely
3. Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty
4. Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking
5. Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding
6. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
7. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries

Unit 2: Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace

1. Be able to conduct a secondary survey
2. Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected injuries to bones, muscles and joints
3. Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries
4. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries
5. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds
6. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with an eye injury
7. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected poisoning
8. Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis
9. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness

First aid for Close Protection learners

To start our 18-day Close Protection course you must hold a valid Level 3 (RQF/QCF) first aid qualification from a course of at least three days, valid for at least 12 months from your course start date. You must show your first aid certificate before training starts. This three-day course meets the length requirement. The one-day Emergency First Aid at Work course does not.

First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work?

If you only need an emergency first-aider, for example for the SIA Door Supervisor course, the one-day Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) course costs £80. Choose this three-day course if you need the full first aid at work qualification.
